Next up for Pontypridd RFC is a trip up into north-west Carmarthenshire to play Newcastle Emlyn RFC. The Admiral Premiership match at Dôl Wiber on Saturday 14th December kicks off at 2:30pm.
This week’s match at Dôl Wiber will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs and a return to action after all Premiership matches fell foul to the adverse weather last weekend. Newcastle Emlyn won promotion into this season’s Premiership after finishing 5th in last season’s Championship West, winning 11 of their 22 matches.
The table is obviously ‘as you were’ following no matches last weekend, with Ponty still sitting at the top of the standings and Newcastle Emlyn currently in 12th position. However, despite the coch a gwyn/red and whites occupying the final relegation place they will take huge confidence from their last match – on Saturday 30th November, whilst Ponty won their top of the table clash away at Neath, Newcastle Emlyn enjoyed a superb 36-10 win at home against Bargoed. Their last outing prior to that was again at Dôl Wiber where they played out a thrilling 33-all draw against Ystrad Rhondda. Pontypridd will once again know that only their A-game will be sufficient away from home this Saturday.
