Ange Postecoglou has seemingly sent a message to the Tottenham hierarchy, confessing that the squad needs to be bolstered in the January transfer window.
Tottenham have had extremely bad luck with injuries and suspensions this season, and that rotten luck continued on Thursday against Chelsea, with Cristian Romero coming off with a quad injury just 15 minutes into his return.
Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven came off 79 minutes after feeling some tightness in his hamstring, which poses a big problem for Postecoglou, especially with Ben Davies now also out injured.
The Tottenham head coach has been open and honest about the fact he has been struggling to get a side on the pitch for the past few weeks, given the players who are now unavailable.
He has now repeated the same message again after the loss to Chelsea, but this time also confirming that the club will be looking to deepen their squad in January.
Postecoglou told Sky Sports: “We’re thin on numbers and if we’re thin in January, we’ll be looking to add to the squad because they need some help.”

There is a clear pattern with a dramatic increase in muscle injuries at Tottenham since Postecoglou took over last year. Perhaps that is down to the intensity with which the Australian wants his players to train and play.
If that is the case, the club should have foreseen the issue and bulked up their squad more in the summer. Either way, a few January signings are clearly needed for the second half of the season.
