An open thread for all MLB winter meetings discussion
The MLB offseason has seen rampant action all around the league with several notable free agents already signing with new teams. However, the busiest week of the MLB offseason has just arrived as the annual Winter Meetings are taking place in Dallas Texas.
Most recently, Juan Soto reached a 15-year, $765M deal with the New York Mets. Prior to that, Willy Adames signed a 7-year, $182M contract with the San Francisco Giants. His former Rays teammate, Blake Snell, also signed in the NL West, agreeing to a 5-year deal, also for $182M, with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Rays, for their part, made a free agent signing last week as they agreed to a one year deal with veteran catcher Danny Jansen with a mutual option for 2026.
The trade market has been quiet thus far, but the Rays figure to be among the most active teams in that regard with speculation and rumors set to run amok during the meetings. There have already been reports that the Rays are likely to trade several players as they look to clear salary space so names like Yandy Diaz, Pete Fairbanks, Brandon Lowe, Jeffery Springs, and Zack Littell could find themselves with new teams by the week’s end.
