A man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while he was crossing lanes on Illinois 53 Sunday afternoon in suburban Palatine has been identified.
Just before 5 p.m., state troopers responded to the northbound lanes near Lake Cook Road where 37-year-old Saul Hernandez was hit by a gray Tesla, Illinois State Police said.
Hernandez, of Wheeling, was taking to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:34 p.m., state police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
Northbound lanes of I-53 reopened around 8:20 p.m., officials said.
No additional information was immediately available.
