It’s hard to believe the Eras Tour is officially over. After 19 months all over the globe, Taylor Swift said goodbye to this chapter of her career — and she made sure Travis Kelce was honored on the last night.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end wasn’t in the audience in Vancouver, Canada because his team was busy beating the Los Angeles Chargers, but he wasn’t forgotten by his girlfriend. Fans went wild when Swift gave the audience one last “Karma” lyrics change. “Karma is “the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me” had Swifties screaming in delight. (See the TikTok video.)
They also didn’t miss the archer pose she struck during her song, “So High School,” which is rumored to be about her boyfriend. Kelce is known to hit his signature move after successful plays on the football field. What makes this so sweet is that Swift’s choreography has utilized this move since 2019 for “The Archer” — long before she dated Kelce. Maybe they inspired each other?
Even though Kelce couldn’t attend Swift’s last performance, he certainly made his mark on the Eras Tour. The 35-year-old athlete kicked off what felt like a Hallmark romance when he tried to give Swift his number at the July 26, 2023, concert. “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce said to his brother, Jason, on their podcast, New Heights. “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.”
The rumors began to heat up about their possible meet-cute moment and Swift confirmed it by attending his Sept. 24, 2023, game — and Swifties have never been the same. The dynamic duo flow all over the globe to support each other culminating in a June 23 moment onstage in the U.K. Kelce joined his girlfriend for the transition into “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” in a full coat and tails costume.
The next step for Swift and Kelce is to just slow down. “Taylor and Travis are eager to spend quality time together because [that’s when] the little nuances about someone’s personality and habits come into play. They will learn so much about each other,” an Us Weekly insider explained. “Taylor does feel like Travis is The One, but jumping in is not her style. That’s just not how she does [things]. Marriage is a big deal, and she wants [it to be] forever.”
It’s the end — and the beginning — of an era.
