The 2025 Golden Globes nominations were announced in the wee hours of Monday, Dec. 9, and your favorite Hollywood celebrities woke up early to celebrate. (Well, some of them slept in — it was 5:15 a.m. PT, after all!) Throughout the morning, various contenders reached out to Gold Derby to talk about their own bids as well as those of their fellow nominees. Who are they most looking forward to rubbing elbows with at the January ceremony? Which projects this year are they really passionate about? Scroll through our gallery above to see their exclusive Golden Globes reactions, which include Ariana Grande, Denzel Washington, Nicole Kidman, and more.
Otherwise known as “Hollywood’s party of the year,” this buzzy awards show covers both film and television, which means movie stars will be hobnobbing with TV actors when the black tie event takes place on Jan. 5, 2025. The Globes will air live on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and will also stream simultaneously on Paramount+. Comedian Nikki Glaser is serving as host of the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards.
This year’s nominees presenters were Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut, and they took turns announcing all 15 movie categories and 12 TV races. As usual, film is separated into two genres — drama and comedy/musical — for picture and lead acting. Meanwhile, television has three genres: drama, comedy/musical, and limited/anthology/TV movies.
The two new categories from 2024 will return again this year: Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television. Last year’s winners were “Barbie” and “Ricky Gervais: Armageddon,” respectively. As previously reported, Viola Davis will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award and Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award.
