We go over the Falcons odds to make the postseason after their Week 14 game against the Vikings.
The Atlanta Falcons lost an ugly one to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14 as quarterback Kirk Cousins once again fell apart. The Falcons put up a good fight in the first half, tying the game at 21 in the closing seconds of the second quarter. However, they would not score again and the defense collapse while Cousins struggled with turnovers.
The Falcons entered the weekend in first place in the NFC South and the betting favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook with -125 odds. Their odds to make the playoffs in any form were at -185.
The loss drops them a full game back of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who beat the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14. The Bucs are now -230 to win the division thanks to that win. The one advantage Atlanta has is they swept the two-game head-to-head series with Tampa. That means the Bucs have to win the division outright while the Falcons only need to finish in a tie atop the division.
Looking at the remaining four weeks of the season, the Falcons travel to face the Raiders, host the Giants, travel to face the Commanders, and close out the season at home against the Panthers. The Bucs travel to face the Chargers and Cowboys, then finish at home against the Panthers and Saints. I would give the Falcons the slightly more favorable schedule, but the margin is razor thin for both teams.
