To start this year’s College Football Playoff, the No. 2 Texas Longhorns (11-2) will host the No. 17 Clemson Tigers (10-3) starting at 4 p.m. ET at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. Texas is the favorite by 10.5 points.
The Longhorns were beaten by the Georgia Bulldogs 22-19 in their last game. Last time out, the Tigers won 34-31 over the SMU Mustangs. Quinn Ewers threw for 358 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions on 27-of-46 passing (58.7%) for the Horns in that matchup against the Bulldogs. Quintrevion Wisner took 19 carries for 51 yards (2.7 yards per carry), while adding three receptions for 15 yards in the passing game. Matthew Golden recorded eight receptions for 162 yards (averaging 20.3 per catch) against the Bulldogs. Cade Klubnik notched 262 passing yards while going 24-for-41 with four touchdowns and no interceptions for the Tigers against the Mustangs. He added 14 carries for 21 yards. Phil Mafah put together a 13-carry, 28-yard game (2.2 yards per attempt), while tacking on one reception for two yards . Bryant Wesco Jr. caught eight passes on 11 targets for 143 yards (17.9 yards per reception), and scored two touchdowns.
