To begin this year’s College Football Playoff, the No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-2) will host the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers (10-2) starting at 8 p.m. ET at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State is the favorite by 7.5 points.
The Buckeyes head into the matchup after losing 13-10 to the Michigan Wolverines in their last game on Nov. 30. The Volunteers are coming off of a 36-23 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores. Will Howard had 175 yards on 19-of-33 passing (57.6%) for the Buckeyes in that matchup against the Wolverines, with one touchdown and two interceptions. Quinshon Judkins carried the ball 12 times for 46 yards (3.8 yards per carry). Carnell Tate recorded six receptions for 58 yards (averaging 9.7 per catch) against the Wolverines. Nico Iamaleava went 18-for-26 with 257 yards, four touchdowns and one interception for the Vols against the Commodores. He also rushed six times for 42 yards. In that matchup, Dylan Sampson had a 25-carry, 178-yard game (7.1 yards per attempt). He also added two receptions for six yards . Dont’e Thornton picked up 118 yards through the air after three catches (on four targets), with two touchdowns.
