Indian cricket team’s hopes of reaching the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) suffered a major blow following their 10-wicket defeat to Australia in the pink-ball Test against Australia in Adelaide.
The defeat saw India drop to third place on the WTC points table. However, there are chances that the Men in Blue can still qualify for the WTC final and there are multiple scenarios which can see Rohit Sharma’s side enter the final.
The Indian team cannot afford to lose any more matches in the ongoing series against Australia if they want to keep their WTC final hopes alive. 3 wins in a row against the Baggy Greens will guarantee a spot in the final for the Men in Blue.
However, 2 wins and a draw can also make sure that they will find a place in the WTC final if South Africa win the 2nd Test match against Sri Lanka.
If India do lose another match in the Border-Gavaskar series then their qualification will completely depend on the results in the South Africa vs Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka vs Australia series.
