Indian skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the reason why fans were recently banned from attending the team’s net sessions. The 37-year-old stated that the practice sessions are private and they are not in favour of any kind of public intervention. This comes after the Indian players had to face insensitive comments from the crowd during their net sessions ahead of the Adelaide Test.
“You know, the net sessions are very private, and this was the first time ever I saw so many people during the nets. And when you’re training, when you’re practicing, there are a lot of conversation that happens, and those conversations are very private. We don’t want anyone to hear those conversations. It is as simple as that because there’s a lot of planning,” Rohit said during a press conference.
The Indian captain also stated that if the public does want to see the team, then they can attend the Test matches.
“There’s a lot of talking that happens. And the crowds are very close to that practice facility. There are five days of Test cricket. They can come and watch us there,” Rohit said.
Following the Pat Cummins-led side’s dominant 10-wicket win in Adelaide, the 5-match Test series has now been levelled at 1-1. It will be very interesting to see which team comes out on top in the third Test which is set to take place in Brisbane from December 14.
