A warm front is going to lift northward into the area today, leading to warmer temperatures this afternoon as highs climb into the upper 60s to lower 70s. More importantly, moderate-to-heavy rainfall will move in this morning and continue through the afternoon and evening, coming in in waves.
Rainfall totals should remain pretty modest through the day today, only in the half-inch to an inch range, but rainfall totals could increase tomorrow, especially across southeastern Acadiana. This is due to the front coming in and stalling across Acadiana, which could lead to training thunderstorms across southeastern areas. This includes Iberia, St. Mary, Lower St. Martin, and across southeastern Louisiana. The flash flooding threat remains low, but if we would see any problems it would likely be in these areas and mainly on Monday, as storms continuously develop near the surface front.
The front will get a push from the northern jet stream on Tuesday, driving it through and helping us to clear out and cool off. Highs will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s Wednesday and Thursday, with a chilly morning start in the upper 30s Thursday morning.
Nice weather looks to continue through the weekend!
