The Boston Red Sox have the true start of their offseason activity waiting on the free agent decision of superstar Juan Soto.
Boston competes with four other teams in the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers. MLB insider Jon Heyman arrived at the Winter Meetings in Dallas, Texas and offered his latest feeling based on body language and conversations in the race for Soto.
“The feeling in the lobby, going talking to people, the Yankees seem a little more confident than some of the other teams,” Heyman shared on “MLB Tonight” Sunday night. “Boston a little bit less confident than some of the other teams. The Mets kind of in the middle right now.”
While the Red Sox have not officially been eliminated by the Soto camp, Heyman certainly sees the likeliest scenario of the star staying in New York in some capacity.
“I’ll be a little surprised if he doesn’t go to one of the New York teams at this moment,” Heyman added.
