CECILIA, La. (KLFY) -- Brent Gordon Jr. plays on both sides of the ball for the Cecilia Bulldogs.
The four-year starter plays safety and wide receiver for this Cecilia team that is one win away from reaching the state championship game. Gordon says Cecilia will get back to the dome if they keep playing Bulldog football.
"Just stay disciplined, do what we are coached and just do our game plan and know it," Gordon said.
After winning their first three playoff games on the road, the senior says his team doesn't mind playing one more game away from home.
"I mean, it's something we're definitely not used to, but we are taking advantage of it," he said. "You know, a lot of teams, they might see that as a disadvantage going into a different environment but we actually like that and we try to take advantage of it."
Gordon is not only in his fourth year playing football, but he is also going into fourth year playing basketball and running track. Gordon runs the hurdles and all of the relays, but he's always had love for the game of football that started at an early age.
"I used to just watch the people around me and I saw all the older kids talking about like how much fun they were having playing football and how they just joined a new team," he said. "I just wanted to see what that was all about. I joined the team and I just been loving it ever since."
This Bulldog is going to take his love for the game to the next level. The three-star recruit signed with Louisiana football to play safety. Head Coach Michael Desormeaux said his Ragin' Cajuns are adding a versatile football player to their program.
"He's a winner. I mean, he is a winner," Desormeaux said. "He is a tough, gritty competitor and that's what you want. Whatever you need him to do for the team, he'll do it. I think he brings a bunch of position flexibility for us."
Gordon wants to major in business but before leaving Cecilia, his goal is to win a state championship with his teammates. I asked Brent what is it like playing on this Cecilia football team.
"It's a big brotherhood, you know, we all close," Gordon said. "We all clique tight; there's really no odd person out. You know, we all come together as one."
