Celtics star Jaylen Brown’s wallet to a small hit Friday.
The NBA fined Brown $25,000 for “making an inappropriate gesture” in Boston’s win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. The gesture referenced was a throat slit celebration Brown made after he dunked on Isaiah Stewart.
Brown admitted postgame that he was “caught up in the moment” and acknowledged that the NBA and NBA Players Association don’t take too kindly to those kinds of gestures. And the 28-year-old anticipated a response from the NBA.
The NCAA also tried to legislate the kinds of celebrations they deemed acceptable after multiple college football players used a gun celebration after big plays.
As one might imagine, Celtics fans weren’t pleased with the “soft” fine. Luckily, for Brown, he signed a massive extension worth over $300 million last year, so $25,000 won’t be too much of a hit for him.
