Ange Postecoglou assures Spurs fans that he will keep fighting to turn around the club’s current fortunes after the most recent defeat away to Bournemouth.
The defeat to Bournemouth feels like a seminal moment in Postecoglou‘s rein, with a lot of Spurs fans seemingly having had enough after seeing their side drop down to tenth place in the table.
When the Australian went over to applaud the away section after the final whistle at the Vitality Stadium, he was greeted by loud boos and even abuse.
While Postecoglou is hamstrung by the injuries that Tottenham are dealing with, he will know that things have to turn around quickly if he is to ensure he has a future at the club.
However, the Tottenham boss is certainly not one to give up or make any excuses for the team’s poor form.
He has instead sent a defiant message to the Tottenham fans, insisting that he is determined to keep fighting to ensure the team gets back to winning ways.
When asked what his message is to the fans, Postecoglou said (via Football.London): “All I can say is I’m really disappointed with tonight and I’m determined to get it right and I’ll keep fighting until we do.”
One can understand the frustration of the travelling fans and they have the full right to boo and make it clear that they are unhappy with the performance.
However, to hurl abuse at Postecoglou is unacceptable and not what you would expect of grown-ups.
Whatever one thinks of the 59-year-old’s ability as a manager, he is a man who has conducted himself with class and he deserves basic respect and dignity from the fan base.
