ScottishPower is launching a new loyalty scheme[/caption]The MyScottishPower scheme is being rolled out to eligible households this month.
Any ScottishPower customers with a live gas and/or electricity supply and online account qualify.
Households can sign up through their online accounts, via the ScottishPower website or emails being sent inviting them to join.
ScottishPower is giving anyone who signs up an introductory £5 credit on their bill.
The credit will be paid within 14 days and will show as MyScottishPower on their statement.
Customers on a smart prepayment meter signing up will get the credit applied directly to their meter.
The firm said further perks will be rolled out in 2025 including “benefits, discounts and savings” although it hasn’t said what these three perks will entail exactly.
Households on traditional prepayment meters do not qualify for the loyalty scheme.

Its launch comes after ScottishPower started offering smart meter customers half-price electricity on weekends.
The discounted prices are available from 11am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays between now and April 2025.

ScottishPower is the latest energy firm to launch a loyalty scheme in a bid to draw in customers.
Here is what some of the other major firms offer.
Octopus Energy launched its “Octoplus” rewards scheme last October, as exclusively revealed by The Sun.
Customers with an electric smart meter and paying via direct debit or those with a smart prepayment meter can sign up.
Households get paid to join in the firm’s “Savings Sessions”, rewarding those who use less electricity at times of peak demand.
They can also earn points by spinning a virtual “Wheel of Fortune” after submitting meter readings.
Those signed up to the scheme can also get free Greggs coffee, discounted Odeon cinema tickets and National Trust days out.

OVO Energy launched a new loyalty scheme in May, offering households a free boiler service and money off their bills.
The OVO Beyond scheme rewards customers for using energy during off-peak times when there is less pressure on the network.
Households can also get discounts on home tech like smart thermostats and money off having solar panels installed.

The E.On Next Plus loyalty scheme gives customers access to discounts on shopping, and money off bills, depending on how long they’ve been with the provider.
For example, you get £20 off your yearly bill if you have been with E.On Next for one year or more.
Customers who have been with the firm for two years or more can get £50 off their bill.
There’s extra eligibility criteria to meet too, with more information available on the energy firm’s website.

There's a number of different ways to get help paying your energy bills if you're struggling to get by.
If you fall into debt, you can always approach your supplier to see if they can put you on a repayment plan before putting you on a prepayment meter.
This involves paying off what you owe in instalments over a set period.
If your supplier offers you a repayment plan you don’t think you can afford, speak to them again to see if you can negotiate a better deal.
Several energy firms have schemes available to customers struggling to cover their bills.
But eligibility criteria vary depending on the supplier and the amount you can get depends on your financial circumstances.
For example, British Gas or Scottish Gas customers struggling to pay their energy bills can get grants worth up to £2,000.
British Gas also offers help via its British Gas Energy Trust and Individuals Family Fund.
You don’t need to be a British Gas customer to apply for the second fund.
EDF, E.ON, Octopus Energy and Scottish Power all offer grants to struggling customers too.
Thousands of vulnerable households are missing out on extra help and protections by not signing up to the Priority Services Register (PSR).
The service helps support vulnerable households, such as those who are elderly or ill.
Some of the perks include being given advance warning of blackouts, free gas safety checks and extra support if you’re struggling.
Get in touch with your energy firm to see if you can apply.
