India’s Under-19 cricket team will look to book their berth in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 final when they take on Sri Lanka Under-19 team in the second semifinal match at the Sharjah cricket stadium on Friday. Mohammad Amaan’s Indian side qualified from Group A in second position with two wins and one loss to Pakistan in their three matches.
13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed an electrifying fifty in their must-win Group A match against UAE earlier this week, slamming 76 off 46 balls with six sixes and 3 fours. Suryavanshi put on 143 runs in just 16.1 overs with Ayush Mhatre – who hammered 67 off 51 balls – to set up a 10-wicket win over UAE.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have been unbeaten in all their three Group B matches with wins over Nepal, Afghanistan and Bangladesh so far. India, though, have been unbeaten in their last five Under-19 matches against Sri Lanka. The last match between the two sides at this level was back in 2021, which India won by 9 wickets.
