Ben Jacobs reveals the new injury Man United defender Luke Shaw has suffered

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has suffered a fresh muscular injury, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

This latest setback is unrelated to the calf issue that sidelined him earlier this season. The left-back is expected to be out for a few weeks.

Shaw’s return from a three-month lay-off due to a calf injury last season allowed him to participate in the 2024 European Championship with England, even though many people were worried he was being rushed back too soon.

Those fears are well-founded, as his injury woes seem far from over. After missing the start of the current campaign, he finally made his first appearance off the bench in United’s 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town.

He featured again as a substitute in their recent 4-0 victory over Everton, raising hopes he can build momentum and play an influential role under new manager Ruben Amorim.

This new injury comes as a significant blow to both Shaw and Man United. The 29-year-old has a well-documented history of injuries, having missed large chunks of the past two seasons due to a hamstring problem.

Amorim will be disappointed to lose the England international at a crucial stage as they prepare for the congested festive fixture schedule.

United play Arsenal tonight before taking on high-flying Nottingham Forest as they bid to close the gap on the top four.

They also have a crucial fixture in the Europa League against Viktoria Plzen before visiting Manchester City.

The pile-up doesn’t stop as they travel to face Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup quarter-final before closing the year with league games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Bournemouth.

Hopefully, Shaw will be fit before the opening fixture of 2025 against runaway league leaders Liverpool.

For today’s clash against Arsenal, Amorim must fit Noussair Mazraoui on the left to contain Gunners talisman Bukayo Saka.
