ORIGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Local and state officials announced closures on Interstate 10 and Interstate 49 after an 18-wheeler struck the 1-10 eastbound overpass.
According to the Lafayette Police Department, the 18-wheeler was carrying a large load and struck the overpass of I-10 eastbound.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced the following closures:
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes along I-10 eastbound, authorities said.
