GAHANNA, Ohio (WCMH) – A Powell-based sports bar will soon open its second location in the building that formerly housed the restaurant Coaches in Gahanna.
Third Base Pint House plans to open at 230 Granville St. in mid-to-late December, according to owner Don Brumage. The restaurant's first location opened in December 2019 at 9215 Dublin Road in Powell.
The eatery in Gahanna will offer the same food as its original location, with a menu consisting of burgers made from Waygu beef, pierogies, tacos, chicken wings, cauliflower wings, potstickers and more.
“We make all our own wing sauces and people love our wing sauces,” Brumage said. “It's a fresh kitchen, it's not a frozen kitchen.”
Third Base Pint House will take over the location formerly occupied by Coaches, a sports bar that opened in the 1990s and closed in January. After the closure, a real estate group applied to build a Sheetz gas station and convenience store on the property in April, but that plan was rejected by the Gahanna Planning Commission in August. Brumage said he jumped at the opportunity after the Sheetz proposal failed.
“I live on that side of town,” Brumage said. “I’ve always liked Gahanna. … Once we found out Coaches was available, we jumped right on it.”
Along with sitdown service, the sports bar will offer catering, takeout and delivery through platforms such as DoorDash and GrubHub. The restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to midnight daily, according to Brumage.
