As more customers flock to budget airlines as a means of traveling on a dime, more of these companies are beefing up their luxury options to create a flight experience reminiscent of the major carriers. Frontier Airlines is the latest to throw its hat in the ring with an all new premium experience.
In late 2025, Frontier will debut its new First Class seating for passengers, replacing the first two rows of the plane with more spacious seats. It's not the only change coming to Frontier in 2025. Starting in early 2025, Elite Gold members and flyers in higher tiers will receive free seat upgrades, including for the new First Class. On top of that, starting in mid-2025, Platinum and Diamond Elite members can fly with a companion at no extra cost. In addition, all customers will be able to use Frontier miles for baggage, seating upgrades, and more.
The coming changes are all a part of the airline's "New Frontier" initiative to revamp its customer experience. It started earlier this year with the elimination of change and cancellation fees and improvements to customer benefits and support as well as the introduction of UpFront Plus seating, which guarantees an empty middle seat and extra legroom in the first two rows of the aircraft.
"Travelers should expect more from their airline and, in 2025, Frontier will deliver as we continue our transformation into the most rewarding airline in the sky," Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said in a statement. "We've listened to customers, and they want more—more premium options, like first class seating, attainable seat upgrades, more free travel for their companions, and the ability to use miles on more than just airfare. These changes represent an exciting new chapter in our transformation into The New Frontier."
"The New Frontier is our promise to deliver exceptional value with unbeatable flexibility," Biffle added. "As we continue to innovate and elevate the customer experience, we’re proving that premium travel doesn’t have to come with a premium price tag."
