BANGERS and Cash star Derek Mathewson is a household name thanks to the success of the show.
However, Derek’s personal life became the subject of intense media scrutiny after news broke of his affair with a colleague 26 years his junior.
Vicki Ivens is a former colleague of the Mathewson family-run auction business.
She worked in the office and had appeared in a number of episodes of Derek Mathewson’s hit Tv series, Bangers and Cash.
Vicki married at the age of 25.
Until last year, Vicki had been married to her husband Nicholas for 20 years.
But that all came to a head after her affair with Derek Mathewson was rumbled.
Behind the scenes Vicki and Derek had grown close, despite them both being married.
Once Vicki’s relationship with the Bangers and Cash star was found out, she left her husband, Nicholas, and she was given her marching orders from the business by Derek’s wife, Sue.
Vicki is now working at Flamingo Land theme park in nearby Kirby Misperton.
Meanwhile, dad-of-two Derek now spends his evenings at her £250,000 home.
According to a source close to the family, Derek’s wife Sue had grown suspicious about the nature of Vicki’s relationship to her husband.
Seeing an extensive amount of calls shared between them listed on Derek’s phone bill, Sue turned up at Vicki’s husband’s home to show him.
A source said: “Vicki told her husband in September last year that she was in love with Derek. She said it was as friends — like a dad thing.
“But last month, Sue turned up at Nicholas’s house with a list of phone numbers.
“He checked his bill and there were about 180 calls between them in three weeks.
“He confronted Vicki and she said she was glad he’d found out and was pleased she didn’t have to lie anymore.
“She kept saying it was nothing to do with Derek but it’s become apparent it’s all to do with him.”
Vicki and Nicholas, in his early 50s, have since divorced.
Sue is said to be considering doing the same.
Both Derek and Vicki declined to comment when approached at her home.
Derek marched to his red Audi and sped off followed by mum-of-one Vicki in a Mini.
Sue declined to comment.
Born on October 13, 1951, Derek Mathewson is the star of Bangers And Cash and the owner of Mathewson’s family car company.
Over the years, he has drawn a legion of fans with his motor auction house show.
Derek began selling modern cars and trucks in Bedfordshire in 1970, before setting up business in North Yorkshire in the late 80s.
In the 2000s the classic and vintage side of Mathewsons began to grow, and in 2011 Derek launched Classic Car Auctions.
His booming business has also expanded into the car contract rental and leasing market, delivering motors throughout the UK.
