Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni is enjoying a well-deserved break ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, which is set to get underway on March 14 next year. Dhoni kept everyone on the tenterhooks about his plans for the upcoming season, waiting for the last possible moment to discuss his retention with the CSK management.
Finally, Dhoni was retained by CSK as an ‘uncapped’ player for a salary of Rs 4 crore which is at least Rs 8.5 crore less than the salary he received in the IPL 2024 season. The CSK wicketkeeper can be classified as an ‘uncapped’ player because he last played an international match for India back in 2019 – more than 5 years back.
After the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Dhoni has headed off to the hills with his wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva. On Monday night, Dhoni was seen enjoying a ‘pahadi’ dance with his wife Sakshi in a video which went viral on social media.

Fans couldn’t keep calm and admired Dhoni’s footwork as he pulled off the ‘pahadi’ dance moves with aplomb. The Jharkhand wicketkeeper originally hails from Uttarakhand like his wife Sakshi.
Last year Dhoni visited his ancestral village Lawali in Uttarakhand with his family. The pictures from the visit were shared by Dhoni’s wife on social media.
In one of the pictures, the former skipper is seen posing for a picture along with his wife and his friend Simant Lohani at a temple. According to reports, he offered puja to his ‘Kul Devi’ during the visit and also sought blessings from the elderly women from his native village.
Dhoni’s father Pan Singh had migrated from Uttarakhand’s Lawali to work in a steel factory in Ranchi in the 1970s. The former India captain also attended a private sangeet ceremony recently with wife Sakshi and his ex-teammate RP Singh in Meerut.
The Indian star cricketer is getting ready to his 17th season of IPL. He has notched up 5,243 runs in 264 IPL matches till date at an average of 39.13 with a strike-rate of 137.54 with 24 fifties to his name.
