Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey took a cheeky dig on Indian team and reminded them about their last visit to the Adelaide Oval. During their previous tour of Australia in Border-Gavaskar series 2020/21, India got bundled out for only 36 runs in their second innings in the Adelaide Test, setting a modest target of 90 for the hosts.
Carey also believes that Australia will head into the second Test as favourites despite the huge setback that came in the form of defeat in the Perth Test by a massive 295-run margin.
“There have been amazing days in cricketing history, but we won’t go out there expecting to do it again. We have a process and plan, and we try to execute it regardless of what happens. I wasn’t here for the Test match, but I missed that, it happened too quickly,” Carey told the reporters.
“We are excited, and we take a lot of confidence out of our record in the pink ball Test,” Carey added.
The Baggy Greens so far have a phenomenal record in pink-ball Tests having won 11 out of 12 matches that they have played in so far. They had won 11 games in a row before West Indies handed them their first-ever defeat in Brisbane earlier this year. However, of those 12 Tests, seven were staged in Adelaide, where Australia never lost.
“I’m not sure. We are confident enough, and I’m sure India are confident from their win in Perth. It will be a great contest,” Carey further said.
