Juan Soto is going to sign for a lot of money.
No duh, right?
While Soto’s price tag probably won’t come as a major surprise, the ballclub widely expected to make the largest offer is a bit of a stunner.
SNY’s Andy Martino reported Monday there is a “widespread belief among bidders” that the Toronto Blue Jays will make the highest offer to Soto. Toronto will have plenty of competition for Soto, however, with the New York Yankees and New York Mets both “all in” on the superstar, per Martino.
Both New York clubs typically outrank Toronto’s payroll, and by a wide margin.
Then there’s the Boston Red Sox, who are pulling out all the stops and reportedly are one of two teams remaining in the Soto sweepstakes.
New York Post’s Jon Heyman predicted Soto will land a 14-year deal worth $630 million while NJ.com’s Randy Miller reported Soto is seeking a 15-year deal exceeding $700 million.
