The Iranian human rights organization, known as Hal-Wash, has reported that three individuals, including an 18-year-old Afghan citizen, were executed in the Yazd prison of Iran.
The organization released a report on Sunday, December 1st, stating that the execution took place on Thursday of the previous week. According to the report, the individual was detained in Yazd for charges related to murder and drug-related crimes.
The Hal-Wash human rights organization identified the individual as Ismail, originally from Farah province in Afghanistan.
The report further states that the individual was 18 years old at the time of execution. Previously, the Iranian human rights organization, Hengaw, had reported the execution of seven people, including three Afghan citizens, in the Qezel Hesar prison.
This increase in executions by the Islamic Republic of Iran has been met with criticism from human rights organizations worldwide.
According to reports from the Iran Human Rights Organization, dozens of individuals, including 49 Afghan citizens, have been executed in Iranian prisons over the past ten months.
These reports highlight the ongoing human rights issues in Iran, where the use of the death penalty has raised concerns both nationally and internationally.
Despite calls for reform, the Iranian government continues to execute individuals, often sparking protests from human rights groups. The situation remains a matter of urgent international attention, as executions disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, including foreign nationals.
The global community continues to call for greater transparency and accountability in Iran’s justice system, urging the country to cease the use of the death penalty, especially in cases involving young individuals.
