CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- The city of Crowley transformed its tennis courts into an ice-skating rink for "Rice on Ice."
Valerie Myers, Community Development Director for Crowley, explains how they turned the sports complex into a winter wonderland.
"It is artificial ice," Myers said. "It is basically like a cutting board material, and they spray it with a substance to make it real slick. It works with the skates to feel like ice."
Skates are free to rent at the Glady Trahan Tennis Centre.
There are also fun jumps on the courts and food trucks on the weekends.
Karli Compton celebrated her 7th birthday on the opening day of "Rice on Ice."
"It has all the things I wished for," Compton said. "I wished for the fun jumps and the ice skating."
"Rice on Ice" is going on throughout December. You can find the schedule here.
