GREENSBURG, KS. (KSNT) - The win streak is now up to 52-straight as Axtell football won its fourth-consecutive 8-Man DII state title on Saturday.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, taking a 30-0 lead into the halftime locker room. Axtell scored with two minutes to go to finish the contest 50-0 via mercy rule over runner-up Victoria.
Axtell only played a full four quarters in one game this season: a 52-20 win over Frankfort in the state semifinal game. The Eagles have only played two games within one score in the last four seasons.
No team in Kansas 8-Man history has won 52-straight games until now. Axtell's senior class finishes its high school football career without a loss.
