Tottenham academy goalkeeper Josh Keeley, who is on loan at Leyton Orient, has just scored the first senior goal of his career, netting a crucial equaliser in their FA Cup tie against Oldham Athletic.
After impressing between the sticks for Tottenham’s Under-21 side during the first half of last campaign, Keeley spent the second half of last season on loan at non-league side Barnet in January.
The goalkeeper gave an excellent account of himself at Barnet and his performances saw Leyton Orient secure him on loan back in the summer.
The youngster had to be patient in his initial few months with the O’s, but he is now getting game time for the League One side and is impressing between the sticks.
Oldham were 1-0 up in the FA Cup 2nd round tie at Brisbane Road going into the dying stages of the encounter. Little did Keeley know, he was about to become the unlikely hero of the day.
When the home side got a free-kick in a wide area in the 99th minute, the Spurs youngster decided to come forward. He leapt the highest to glance a header into the top corner, sending the home fans into pandemonium.
Not only that, but Keeley’s goal took Orient to extra-time and Dan Agyei eventually scored a 121st-minute winner to take them through to the next round.

Many people are not fans of goalkeeping going up for headers even in the dying stages of a game. They are not used to being in those positions and are often not capable of finishing off chances even if it fall to them. However, in this case, Keeley’s header was superb and one that centre-forwards would have been proud of.
That is a day he will remember for the rest of his career. However, from a Tottenham perspective, the better thing for Keeley is that he’s actually getting regular first-team football at the minute, and he’s impressing!
