King Charles charging eye-watering sum for boxes of royal Christmas crackers containing garden twine
KING Charles is making money for old rope — by flogging boxes of royal Christmas crackers containing garden twine.
He is asking for £65 for a box of six from his Highgrove House country estate in Gloucestershire.
Buyers are told: “Our crackers exude sophistication and indulgence.”
The gifts inside, billed as the pieces-de-résistance, include a little pot of jam, a wooden honey drizzler, wool twine and bee-saving flower seeds.
Charles also hopes to rake in £75,000 by flogging ten copies of a painting he made of his garden for £7,500 a pop.
The limited edition lithograph of The Terrace Garden is said to show “the King’s artistic talent and deep connection to the natural world”.
He is also selling a box of 12 mini mince pies for £10.95 and the Highgrove Royal Christmas Hamper is on offer for a budget-busting £295.
The King’s website says: “Inside, you’ll discover a bottle of our best-selling dry, crisp, and fruity champagne from Laurent-Perrier, perfect for celebrating Christmas Day.
