International media outlets have reported that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has traveled to Florida and is set to meet with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
According to CNN, citing sources, Trump has invited Trudeau to a dinner at Mar-a-Lago, his private estate. The meeting is expected to be a private gathering with several members of Trudeau’s cabinet and Trump’s potential cabinet members.
BBC confirmed that Trudeau arrived in Florida on Saturday morning Kabul time, via Palm Beach International Airport, heading to Mar-a-Lago for the meeting with Trump.
The meeting comes after Trump made statements emphasizing the need to increase tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and Canada. These remarks sparked discussions between the two leaders.
Following Trump’s comments on tariffs, Trudeau expressed that he was looking forward to “very good conversations” with Trump, emphasizing that they would work together to address concerns and respond to key issues.
As the meeting takes place, both leaders are expected to discuss various matters, including trade, tariffs, and bilateral relations between Canada and the United States.
This high-level meeting marks an important step in the diplomatic relations between Canada and the United States, especially as trade tensions have been a focal point in recent months. Both leaders are expected to explore ways to manage these challenges while fostering cooperation.
