Brashard Smith will lead the SMU Mustangs (10-1) into their game versus the California Golden Bears (6-5) at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The Mustangs head into the matchup after winning 33-7 over the Virginia Cavaliers in their last outing on Nov. 23. Last time out, the Golden Bears won 24-21 over the Stanford Cardinal. Against the Cavaliers, Kevin Jennings led the Mustangs with 323 yards on 25-of-33 passing (75.8%) for two touchdowns and one interception. He also carried the ball three times for 0 yards and one rushing touchdown. Smith rushed for 63 yards on 19 carries (3.3 yards per carry) and one touchdown. Kelvontay Dixon had four receptions for 89 yards (22.3 per catch) against the Cavaliers. Fernando Mendoza put up 299 passing yards while going 25-for-36 with three touchdowns and no interceptions for the Bears against the Cardinal. He added 11 carries for 35 yards. In that matchup, Jaydn Ott had a 10-carry, 17-yard game (1.7 yards per attempt). He also added one reception for five yards . Trond Grizzell caught four passes for 70 yards (17.5 yards per catch), scoring one touchdown.
