WINSTON Churchill is one of the most talked about and storied prime ministers in UK history
A new Netflix documentary series named Churchill at War will dive into the prime minister’s life and will even include interviews with Boris Johnson.
Churchill at War is a Netflix docuseries, which will examine the prime minister’s leadership during the Second World War.
The series will contain interviews with historical experts and will even include voice clips and speeches made by Churchill.
Churchill took power in 1940, after fellow Conservative PM Neville Chamberlain’s foreign policy of appeasement had failed to prevent Adolf Hitler from igniting war in Europe.
Winston remained as prime minister until the end of the war in 1945, where he was replaced by Clement Atlee’s Labour Government who introduced the NHS and the welfare state.
Churchill returned to power in 1951 and remained as Prime Minister of the UK until 1955.
Churchill at War will feature dramatised depictions of some of the most pivotal moments in the former prime minister’s career.
Christian McKay, a stage actor most know for his depiction of Orson Welles, will play the famous politician and he’ll appear opposite some big stars.
Joseph Stalin, the USSR leader who had a frosty relationship with the British prime minister, will be played by Martin Kluge.
Langley Kirkwood will play President Franklin Roosevelt, the American president who decided to involve his country in the Second World War to fight fascism.
The former prime minister Boris Johnson will also be interviewed as part of the series, as the ex-Tory leader has been open in the past about his admiration for Churchill.
Churchill at War will exclusively be available to stream on Netflix.
Ahead of the series’ release, the streaming platform has said: This captivating 4-part docuseries examines Winston Churchill’s pivotal role in World War II and the formative events that made him an ideal leader for the era.
“Brought to life with his own words, the series explores Churchill’s wartime strategy and the legacy that follows.”
Churchill at War will be available to watch from December 4, 2024.
