Assam police apprehended five illegal Bangladeshi nationals and pushed them back at the Indo-Bangladesh border. Over the past year, the Border Security Force in Guwahati seized goods worth Rs. 12.7 crores and apprehended more than 35 Bangladeshi nationals. On August 9, 2024, the BSF handled an influx of approximately 1,000 Bangladeshi nationals seeking refuge in India.
