PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The start to the holiday season will feel cold across western Oregon and southwest Washington Friday.
Temperatures are expected to start out in the low to upper 30s across the Portland, Vancouver area Friday. Patchy fog may develop and linger into the mid-morning hours. We'll keep the skies mostly cloudy skies throughout afternoon and evening. The gray skies will help keep temperatures in the low 40s, nearly 10 degrees cooler than average for the end of November in Portland.
Black Friday shoppers should use their low beams when driving through foggy locations. An extra layer of warmth is also welcome for those attending the tree lighting at Pioneer Courthouse Square Friday evening. That's where skies will stay dry, but cold.
The rest of the weekend is shaping up to be mostly cloudy and chilly. Early morning lows are expected to fall close to freezing along the Willamette Valley through the next several days. This comes with cooler-than-average conditions for the end of November.
A gradual warming trend will take place after the weekend around Portland. Highs will gradually get closer to average with a little more sunshine. That's when Air Quality Advisories are expected to expire. Air quality may be impacted at times through the weekend.
