White Sox Prospect Season Recap: No.15, William Bergolla
The 2024 season for the Chicago White Sox was one of the worst in modern day baseball history. They were 41-121 and the worst team in the league by far. The bright spots were few and far between, as the team was very hard to watch for many White Sox fans.
However, down on the farm, the White Sox have some very intriguing players that can give fans a glimmer of hope for the future. We will be recapping the seasons of some of the best prospects in the White Sox system, starting from #30 and going in order to #1 as MLB Pipeline has them ranked. As you’ll see, there are some very intriguing prospects that can help bring the White Sox back to relevance.
Ranked at 15 is William Bergolla. The White Sox acquired Bergolla from the Philadelphia Phillies in the Tanner Banks trade, as it was a one-for-one swap. This was a good deal for the White Sox, as Bergolla has a lot of upside. Bergolla ranked as the Phillies 11th best prospect according to MLB Pipeline and he has now shifted to 15th on the White Sox list.
Bergolla is a second basemen that made it to High-A in the Phillies system. He continued playing at the same level with the White Sox, as he finished the season with the Winston-Salem Dash.
Prior to the trade Bergolla hit .295 with a .350 OBP and a .735 OPS, which are some very solid numbers for a 19 year old in high-A. He has added one homer, 29 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases as well.
However, after the trade, Bergolla was even better for the White Sox in the minors. In 76 at-bats for the Dash, Bergolla hit .316 with a .386 OBP. He added two triples, 11 RBIs, and nine stolen bases. In a short stint, these are impressive numbers and encouraging to see.

While Bergolla isn’t much of a power hitter, he has fantastic bat-to-ball skills, as he walked seven times compared to eight walks.
This was the best possible outcome for Bergolla after being traded to the White Sox. Since he just turned 20, it is likely that the White Sox start him back at Winston-Salem, but he could make his way to Birmingham if he continues to play like this.
Bergolla may not be the most flashy prospect, but he has the potential to be a fantastic leadoff hitter in the MLB, something the White Sox have lacked the last few years.
