While the Hogs got out to a hot start on Wednesday night, the visiting Oklahoma Sooners ultimately claimed the next three sets to take the match 3-1 and put Arkansas’ postseason hopes out of reach.
The Razorbacks close the regular season 16-12 with a 6-10 record in the SEC.
Senior setter Hannah Hogue had a fantastic showing on her Senior Night with 43 assists and 11 digs, her 20th double-double on the season. She finishes her Razorback career with 44 total double-doubles, the seventh-most in program history. She also had two aces on the night, which puts her career total at 108, placing her at No. 9 all-time in program aces.
Fellow senior Sania Petties also had a great night with eight kills on 21 swings for a .238 hitting percentage, one ace, and two blocks.
Senior middle blocker Zoi Evans had five blocks on the night along with five kills, cementing a new personal season high in kills (115) and putting her career total in blocks at 273.
Senior libero Courtney Jackson had a team-high 18 digs and caps her career with 1,738.
Arkansas saw 2,137 fans in attendance on Wednesday, which brings the season total to 23,071 across 12 home matches. It is the fourth consecutive season in which the Hogs have had 1,000+ average fans in attendance for each match, 1,922 in 2024.
Set 1
Arkansas began to run away with the first set with a 5-0 run highlighted by a Hogue ace that made it 9-5 for the Hogs. The Razorbacks maintained the tempo from there, though Oklahoma consistently threatened and brought it to 18-17 off an Arkansas error. The Hogs settled back in and back-to-back kills from Romani Thurman pushed the home team over 20 points. An ace from Ava Roth extended the lead to 23-18 shortly after, and while OU got four of the next five, a Sooner error closed the set 25-22 in favor of Arkansas.
Set 2
Oklahoma hit the gas early with a 7-1 run that gave them an 11-7 advantage early in the second set. Arkansas answered back and tied it at 13-all, and it was closer from there. There were ties at 16-16 and 19-19, but the Sooners had a little more in the tank and rattled off three straight points to put them within three of victory. Arkansas called time, but Oklahoma didn’t let up and the Sooners came away victorious 25-19, evening the match 1-1.
Set 3
Yet again the two teams exchanged runs early, but the Hogs found themselves consistently playing from behind. They managed to tie the score at 15-15, but Oklahoma scored the next three and sent the home team to huddle. A 3-3 run following made it 21-19 Sooners, and they took a timeout of their own. It was close from there and the Hogs tied it at 22-22, but three straight from OU pushed it to 25-22 and the Sooners took a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4
The momentum stayed on Oklahoma’s side to start the fourth, and the Sooners went on a 4-0 run that extended their lead to 12-5. Following an Arkansas timeout, the Hogs kept pushing and closed the gap to three with a 3-0 run, which prompted a timeout from the Sooners. They held steady and maintained the lead, but the Hogs rattled off four straight and tied it up at 16-all. Oklahoma quickly retook the lead at 20-17 though, and Arkansas called time. It was back-and-forth from there, eventually tied at 22-22, but two from the Sooners took it to set point. The Razorbacks spoiled it once, but a final kill made it 25-23 for OU and secured the victory.
