BANGERS and Cash star Derek Mathewson has plenty of fans and celebs with his family-run car auction house series.
But Derek’s personal life became the subject of intense media scrutiny after news broke of his affair to a colleague 26 years his junior.
Derek Mathewson was married to wife Sue for 40 years.
The couple have two children together.
In February 2023, The Sun exclusively reported that Derek had an affair and left his wife Sue for married work colleague, Vicki Ivens, who also appeared in Bangers And Cash.
A source said: “Vicki told her husband in September last year that she was in love with Derek. She said it was as friends — like a dad thing.
“But last month, Sue turned up at Nicholas’s house with a list of phone numbers.
“He checked his bill and there were about 180 calls between them in three weeks.
“He confronted Vicki and she said she was glad he’d found out and was pleased she didn’t have to lie anymore.
“She kept saying it was nothing to do with Derek but it’s become apparent it’s all to do with him.”
Vicki and Nicholas, in his early 50s, have since divorced after 20 years together, but a divorce is yet to be confirmed between Sue and Derek.
Vicki is now working at Flamingo Land theme park in nearby Kirby Misperton.
Meanwhile, dad-of-two Derek now spends his evenings at her £250,000 home.
Both Derek and Vicki declined to comment when approached by The Sun.
Born in October 1951, Derek Mathewson is the star of Bangers And Cash and the owner of Mathewson’s family car company.
Over the years, he has drawn a legion of fans and celebs with his motor auction house show.
Derek began selling modern cars and trucks in Bedfordshire in 1970, before setting up business in North Yorkshire in the late 80s.
His booming business has also expanded into the car contract rental and leasing market, delivering motors throughout the UK.
Sue shares two son’s with Derek, named David and Paul.
Their sons appear on the smash hit TV show with their dad Derek, but not much is known about their personal life as they tend to live a life outside of the limelight.
However, we do know that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree, as their son’s share their dad’s love of cars.
David Terrance Mathewson, born in Jul 1972, is a car auctioneer.
And their second-son Paul Craig Mathewson, born in Jan 1980, is a car dealer.
Paul has been a director Mathewson’s Classic Cars LTD, since May 11, 2021.
David was also appointed role as a director of the family business on September 1, 2023.
