New Delhi: Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful franchises with five titles in the bank, equal to Chennai Super Kings, were seen busy during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, bidding for as many as 42 players, the third most by any team in the auction. However, they were quiet for most of the auction and got active only when their target players came under the hammer. MI had retained its core group by keeping Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Verma. The Mukesh Ambani-owned team spent nearly ₹55 crore and bought 7 players at their base price.
Arjun Tendulkar, who has been with Mumbai Indians since IPL 2021, retained his place in the squad, while Ishan Kishan was transferred to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Arjun’s name wasn’t called during the first accelerated round and went unsold in the second round, but MI secured him in the third round.
MI welcomed back Trent Boult and Karn Sharma. Boult played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians 2020 title win before moving to Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Karn, on the other hand, was part of MI’s victorious squad in 2017.
