Tottenham Hotspur may be about to battle a direct Premier League rival for a young midfielder who is lighting up the Eredivisie this season.
The player in question is Malik Tillman, who had an extremely impressive season on loan at PSV Eindhoven from Bayern Munich last term, with the Dutch club deciding to activate the option to buy him permanently for £10m ahead of this season.
The attacking midfielder has hit even greater heights this campaign, with six goals and four assists to his name so far (Transfermarkt).
The youngster’s displays at the Philips Stadion have now reportedly caught the attention of a couple of top Premier League sides.
This report comes from TBR Football, who say that the midfielder has now emerged as a target for Ange Postecoglou‘s side ahead of the January transfer window.
However, it is explained that the Lilywhites could face competition from Aston Villa for the versatile attacker, with Unai Emery’s men also big fans of the player.
In fact, it is revealed that both Spurs and Villa have been keeping an eye on the USA international’s development since his loan spell at Rangers back in 2022-23.
However, TBR Football point out that there is one potential complication in Tottenham and Villa’s pursuit of Tillman, which is the fact that Bayern have a £30m buy-back clause on the player.
It is not revealed if the Bundesliga giants are expected to activate that sell-on clause, and if they do, whether they would be willing to sell him on for a profit.
The publication adds that in case Bayern do not activate the clause, PSV would be looking to get a similar figure of £30m for the attacking midfielder from the interested Premier League sides.
