Early pre match thread.
A strange yet seemingly comfortable win vs Luton puts us back top of the table for the 13:30pm kick off vs Blackburn on Saturday (strange time and not on tele either).
The possibility for 9 points from 3 games in a week beckons.
But Blackburn won't be easy, they themselves got an impressive away win vs 6th placed Middlesbrough and with the game in hand they have could themselves be in the playoffs fairly soon in theory.
3 defeats in a row before a win vs Cardiff a few weeks ago and a win vs Boro seem to have fixed the slide for John Eustace and his team.
2 draws vs Burnley and WBA show they can compete vs the better side as well as the win vs Boro
But both Sheffield United and Watford have dispatched them comfortably so maybe consistency is an issue?
Home record is decent however, 5 wins from 8 and only 2 defeats, and it has to be said our own away performances and form can be patchy.
Like most clubs these days Blackburn play predominantly a 4-2-3-1 with a focus on solidarity in the middle provided usually by midfielders Lewis Travis and Sondre Tronstad, tidy enough but they aren't asked to do a huge amount of attacking.
Blackburn themselves are happier without the ball than with and prefer to maintain the shape and use long balls to catch out opposition teams.
Don't expect lots of tippy tappy stuff.
But isn't to say they aren't without attacking threat, hard working striker pair veteran Andreas Weimann and Japan International Yuki Ohashi have 4 goals each this season and are a hard working pair.
Attacking midfielder Tyrhys Dolan has an eye for a pass and has a goal in him.
And a familiar face to Daniel Farke (all be it a strained relationship often) Todd Cantwell has provided his tricks and flair and 4 assists as well.
So a potentially tough nut to crack vs a team not uncomfortable with not having the ball and quite good at winning games without it.
For ourselves it's more a question of rotation than anything else perhaps?
How long can Rothwell and Tanaka play basically every minute before they need a rest? Guilavogui must be fully fit by now?
Sam Byram was taken off for his own good vs Luton, Farke very aware of Sam and his fitness issues, could it be time for a redemption appearance for Wober?
Dan James once again made his mark and must be pushing for a recall?
What about Ramazani?
