ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - After a viral takedown in 2022, Jack Huber is eyeing victory at this year’s Troy Turkey Trot. Huber is training with a group of runners in preparation for one of the oldest road races in the country.
The Bethlehem Central High School grad ran his first Troy Turkey Trot in 2022. He made headlines, but not for the reason he planned. Racing for fourth place, a fellow runner collided with him causing both of them to fall down. The other runner was disqualified and Jack walked away with a few bruises.
He returned to run the race in 2023 and came in second place. This year, Jack wants to secure a first place finish. Whether that happens or not, he said that viral moment doesn’t define him or his community.
“I understand why that video went viral but I hope people understand that’s not the running community, especially not in this area. Everyone is very supportive,” said Huber.
The 77th Annual Troy Turkey Trot on Thursday, Nov. 28. Anyone looking to participate in a race can register on the Troy Turkey Trot website. The first race is the 10K at 8 a.m., followed by the Grade School Run at 9:30 a.m., the Turkey Walk at 9:35 a.m., and the 5K will kick off at 10 a.m.
