A man is accused of knocking out a 17-year-old girl in a pigsty and leaving her to be mauled to death by pigs.
Milena Shevelyova, 17, was found dead by her boyfriend in Ushkanka, Russia, on November 23.
Police originally thought she was mauled to death by an aggressive pig but now suspect that her 40-year-old neighbour, Igor Zaika, could have been involved.
The man has been arrested and charged with causing death by negligence and video shows the moment he was taken into police custody.
He told police: ‘I opened the door and saw his daughter leaving. I hit her twice.
‘I hit her the first time, she [pushed me] away. I hit her the second time.
‘I hit her a second time, she fell over there.’
It also shows an officer with a metal detector combing the area Milena was found.
It is reported that the suspect had an argument with the victim’s dad and planned to set the pigpen on fire.
But it is alleged he was caught by surprise when Milena entered the pen to feed the pigs.
She was found passed out with bite marks over her and paramedics then arrived at the scene and confirmed that she had died.
It is alleged that the neighbour knocked her over the head before she fainted and was left for the pigs.
Investigators said in a statement: ‘During the investigation, investigators and forensic specialists, in cooperation with police officers, established that the girl’s death might be linked to a resident of the village of Ushkanka in the Uzhursky District, who lives nearby.
‘He allegedly inflicted bodily injuries on the girl, causing her to lose consciousness.
‘Currently, the suspect has been brought to the investigative department for further investigative actions.’
The investigation is ongoing.
