SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Schenectady County District Attorney's Office announced that Tyreik Blackmon, 30, of Schenectady, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child. The plea satisfied an additional nine counts of felony possession of a sexual performance by a child included in the indictment against him.
Blackmon admitted that on November 2, 2023, he sent a video depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor to a person he was talking to on an online dating application. The investigation determined that the child victim was known to Blackmon, and a full order of protection has since been issued on the minor's behalf.
"This horrible exploitation of a young child was extensively investigated by members of several law enforcement agencies working together to identify both the child and the perpetrator," Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney stated. "These cases require extreme commitments of resources and time. All of the agencies dedicated these resources in this case and because they did, we were able to protect this child, end the exploitation, and punish the perpetrator. I applaud their collective efforts."
As part of the plea agreement, Blackmon will receive a sentence of seven years in prison for each offense, which will run concurrently. In addition to the prison time, Blackmon will serve a 10-year probation term following his release and will also be required to register as a sex offender.
