Midfielder wanted by Ange Postecoglou at Spurs reveals future plans
Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow in their pursuit of reported midfield target Tijjani Reijnders, who has now broken his silence about his future ahead of the January transfer window.

The player in question is Tijjani Reijnders, who has emerged as one of AC Milan’s most important players since his move to the club in 2023.
According to reports over recent weeks, his performances at the San Siro have captured the attention of Tottenham, who are plotting a move to bring him to the N17 in January (TBR Football).
However, the Lilywhites received some bad news regarding their pursuit of the Dutchman earlier this month as Fabrizio Romano revealed that Milan were making efforts to tie the player down to a new contract.
Tijjani Reijnders breaks silence over his future
The player himself has now directly addressed the speculation over his future and the reports of contract negotiations with the Serie A club.
The 26-year-old confirmed that he is indeed in discussions over an extension and admitted that he wants to stay with the Rossoneri.
Reijnders told Gianluca di Marzio: “We are discussing the renewal at the moment, but I can’t say more. However, I see myself at Milan until I’m in my 30s.
“It’s one of the most beautiful clubs in the world and it’s an honour to play there. Wearing [the legendary Johan] Cruijff’s number 14 shirt is very special, and I’m happy in Milan. I don’t think it’s too late for the Scudetto. Milan is evolving as a team and things will improve.”
Can Tottenham tempt Reijnders with a higher salary?
Spurs will likely be able to offer the midfielder a much bigger pay package than Milan could, and one would expect the North London club to be in touch with the player’s entourage to convey the same.
However, the Netherlands international’s comments suggest that money is not his main priority and that he is keen to leave a mark in the Italian club’s history.
It might thus be time for Tottenham to move on from the Dutchman and focus on their other midfield targets instead.
