Golden State split their weekend back-to-back after losing to the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, 104-94. Despite leading by as much as 17 points in the third quarter, the Warriors couldn’t hold back a late Spurs rally. Coming off of a hard-fought game against the New Orleans Pelicans the night prior, Golden State looked tired as San Antonio outscored them 33-13 to finish the fourth quarter. Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with 20 points on the night, while the Spurs were led by starters Victor Wembanyama, Harrison Barnes, and rookie Stephon Castle who combined for 66 points.

The Warriors (12-4) remain atop the Western Conference standings as they face the Brooklyn Nets (7-10) in a favorable matchup before a stretch of tougher games. The Nets rank 20th in net rating and struggle defensively, sitting 25th in the league with a 117.0 defensive rating.
This could mean a much-needed bounce-back game for Stephen Curry, who was held to 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting, including 3-of-10 from deep, against San Antonio. With several of Brooklyn’s defensive standouts listed on the injury report and guard Dennis Schroder potentially absent—listed as questionable due to right ankle soreness—Curry should have plenty of opportunities to get himself in a rhythm early in the game.
If Curry and the Warriors can capitalize on this and effectively lean on their depth to close out the game, it could provide a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the challenging Western Conference matchups looming in the days ahead.
