TOPEKA (KSNT) — Thanksgiving is in three days, and one local church wants to ensure that people have a meal for the holiday.
Thanksgiving is all about giving back and being thankful, and on Monday, Miracle Life Church was focused on the gift of giving. Miracle Life Church held a free turkey and sides giveaway. They had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cake, cookies and more ready for the public to stop by. The church urged people to arrive early, as this was on a first-come, first-serve basis. When we arrived, a line was outside, and cars lined up and down the street. Currently, they have helped about 150 people for Thanksgiving.
27 News spoke to an assistant pastor, Stephnie Ware Smith, about where all this food came from.
"We have so many donors this year," Ware Smith said. "We have 501 schools, Forbes Motors, we have walmart - they are always on board with us. We have Crumble Cookie, God's storehouse."
Ware Smith also told us they do this to feed the community's needs, and they want to be a part of a positive change.
