EMMERDALE viewers have demanded fan-favourite couple reunite – following fan support to a rival Corrie relationship.
Over in Coronation Street, Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), have been dubbed “Swarla” by devotees.
Inspired by the storyline, Emmerdale‘s audience called for the return of a popular ex-couple.
Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) were formerly engaged.
Nicknamed “Vanity”, the relationship ended after Vanessa discovered Charity kissed Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).
Charity and Mackenzie would ultimately tie the knot in 2023.
Taking to social media, nostalgic viewers called on bosses to reunite the couple.
One wrote on X: “Emmerdale…I think it’s time you bring Vanity back in 2025.
“Stop all the nonsense with their current partners.”
Another penned: “Ok now emmerdale need to give me vanity back in 2025 and my life will be complete.
” I beg you @emmerdale HOW can you not see the hype for Swarla in Corrie and not want that for Emmerdale…PLEASE.”
A third chimed in: “Kate Brooks saw that disaster that was Emmerdale and her wife’s storyline with vanity and said never again.”
While a fourth remarked: “Imagine if Emmerdale got Vanity back together though!”
Vanessa’s recent storylines have seen her involved in a love triangle – involving another ex.
Upon her return to the village, she hoped to win back Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).
The pair previously split when Vanessa left the village for a new life in Canada.
Played by Emma Atkins, Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle made her first appearance in 2000.
As a member of the ITV soap’s iconic Dingle family, Charity has had her fair share of dramatic storylines over the years.
Here’s a look back at a few of them.
In reality, actress Michelle Hardwick – who is married to new Corrie producer Kate Brooks – went on maternity leave.
After Vanessa’s comeback, it became clear Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) was also interested in Suzy.
Mary – who came out as a lesbian in 2022– even witnessed the pair kiss, much to her despair.
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
