THE Devil Wears Prada has been turned into a West End musical with music composed by Sir Elton John.
And whats more, Elton John and David Furnish introduced an eye-catching number from the brand-new musical at The Royal Variety Performance 2024, alongside star Vanessa Williams and the rest of the cast.
The Devil Wears Prada opened in London‘s West End on October 24, 2024 at the Dominion Theatre.
The musical based on the bestselling novel and blockbuster film, tells the story of an aspiring journalist who lands a job at Runway magazine.
Performances run until May 31, 2025.
The cast of The Devil Wears Prada also featured in The Royal Variety Performance on Friday 22 November 2024. and this will air for viewers in December.
Vanessa Williams is best-known to many for her star TV roles in Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives.
The actress and singer now plays the starring role of fashion editor Miranda Priestly in the Devil Wears Prada Musical.
The former Miss America told Radio Times: “If you’re expecting Meryl Streep, you will not get Meryl Streep.
“You will get my version of Miranda Priestly.
“I’m me. I walk differently to Meryl Streep. I sing differently to Meryl Streep.
“I was asked to create a role because that’s more exciting than having to slip into someone else’s shoes.
“I get to say the lines the way I want to say it and that’s the lovely thing about doing a new musical that you will see for the first time on the West End.”
Olivier Award winner, Matt Henry will play the role of creative fashion director Nigel, a part that was originated in the 2006 film by Stanley Tucci.
He previously starred in, The Drifters Girls, which he also co-created.
Some fans may also remember that Henry was a finalist on the second series of The Voice, so expect some belters.

Henry told London Theatre what the role means to him.
He said: “Having been a huge fan of the film, a passion for fashion and the fact that the role of Nigel is iconic, what’s not to love about joining the cast of The Devil Wears Prada The Musical?!
“Being able to draw inspiration and pay homage to the leading black men in the fashion industry, such as the amazing Edward Enninful, and the late André Leon Talley is what truly excites me about taking on this incredible role.”
Georgie Buckland plays Andy, an aspiring journalist who gets a job at Runway.
Fans may remember her for her previous role as Gingy in the UK tour of The Shrek Musical.
Amy Di Bartolomeo is a musical theatre star known for roles in hit shows including, Six The Musical.
This time she plays the role of Emily in the Devil Wears Prada.
